Parenting Challenges:
My little girl was born at 36 weeks gestation age. She was diagnosed with having double outlet right ventricle [google explains it best], which would cause breathing problems and possible poor blood flow; and her stomach and heart on the wrong side before she was born. They have been telling me since they have found it that she would have to inevitably undergo surgery by the age of 6 months old. After being induced because of low amniotic fluid, she was born happy and healthy, no outstanding breathing or heart problems and she entered the NICU as the healthiest baby in the ward. Her third day she hit complete rock bottom. The blood flow to the lower portion of her body was basically cut so low part of her intestines died, creating a need for emergency surgery. They removed a portion of her intestines. Also with such a low blood flow her blood count was down and her biliruben skyrocketed to over 300 [normal is below 20] this then resulted in 2 blood transfusions to prevent the biliruben from reaching her brain. After the blood transfusions her blood wasn't clotting correctly and her wounds from surgery were bleeding profusly, leading to her having platelet replacement, to thicken the blood.
Now she is stable, but she is the most critical out of all 50 babies in the NICU, the doctors have even said themselves they are worrisome about her, and most babies that would have faced such challenges this young wouldn't have pulled through. She is definitely a fighter, but she could lose the game at the drop of a hat.

About Me
My Life:
I am 18 years old and this is my first child =].
My Inspiration:
my mother, she has been here through the entire pregnancy and birth and hardships with me. I don't know where I would have been without her..i truly believe no matter the past hardships there is never anything like a mothers love and friendship. I only hope to be able to support my little angel in her future times of need as much as my mother has supported me in my time of trials with my new little girl.

my man-he has a hard time sometimes, but what father doesn't..he's worked so hard to understand and accept what cannot be known and he loves me and helps me through this one step at a time. I admire the way he has learned and grown within such a small amount of time. i truly love him and i know everything that is happening will bring everyone, especially us, together and stronger than ever before.
